The Save Our Streets Task Force

The Save Our Streets Task Force is comprised of various law enforcement and government agencies. Their mission is to empower residents in the community, and improve the quality of life in the city of Buffalo by ridding residential properties of drug activity in a collaborative manner. The S.O.S. Task Force meets on a monthly basis and targets twelve properties at a time, hence the “DIRTY DOZEN” list. The group also reviews other complaints received by Program Coordinator from block clubs, businesses and residents in the community (about 400 per year) and has a working list of over 125 land-lords, who own problem drug properties. The committee assisted these owners with evictions, tenant screening techniques, and information. A Landlord Training Program began in 2001 and the Task Force has now developed an Advanced Landlord Seminar for property owners who have completed the basic Landlord  Training Program.
